Anthony J. Broccoli, Ph.D.

Anthony J. Broccoli, Ph.D., is Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences at Rutgers University, and Acting Director of the Center for Environmental Prediction.

Broccoli moved to Rutgers in February 2003 after 21 years in the NOAA Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory in Princeton, N.J. His primary research interest is climate modeling, with particular emphasis on the simulation of past climates and climate change, and the use of such simulations in evaluating climate model performance.

Broccoli received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in meteorology and his Ph.D. in environmental sciences, all from Rutgers. He is a member of the American Meteorological Society, the American Geophysical Union, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Broccoli has served as Associate Editor of Paleoceanography (1996-1999), has served on a number of NOAA advisory committees. He currently is Associate Editor of the Journal of Climate.
