Bruce Lieberman, a reporter for 14 years, has worked as a science writer for The San Diego Union-Tribune for nearly three years. He covers a broad range of research conducted in the San Diego region including oceanography and climate change, astronomy and space sciences, molecular biology, neuroscience and other topics. Before joining the science beat in 2002, Lieberman was reporting on environmental and rural issues in San Diego's backcountry. Prior to joining the Union-Tribune in 1999, he had covered a variety of beats for the North County Times in suburban San Diego County including public education and city government. Lieberman is a 1988 graduate of UC Berkeley and a 1998 graduate of Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism.
