Michael D. Mastrandrea, Ph.D., is a postdoctoral researcher at Stanford University, where his research focuses on scientific questions with political and societal implications and their accurate and effective translation for the general public and policy makers in particular. His research interests include integrated assessment modeling of the climate and economy as a tool for international and domestic climate policy analysis; probabilistic analysis of the potential for "dangerous" climate change; development of conceptual frameworks for risk management of climate change; and analysis of the effects of global climate change on world ecosystems. Mastrandrea is the first graduate of the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Environment and Resources (IPER) at Stanford University, and he has been a Department of Energy Global Change Education Program Fellow. He has published popular treatments of scientific issues for sources such as Encarta, World Book, and Wiley and Sons. Portions of his dissertation work are published in several journals, including papers in Science and soon in Nature.
